Need proof that hearing aids are good for you?

March 6, 2017

You may have heard some of the life-altering success stories of people who finally got fitted with hearing aids.

Well, now you can look at the facts based on results from the first placebo-controlled, double-blind, randomized clinical trial of wearing hearing aids.  A study, led by researchers at Indiana University and published in American Journal of Audiology has huge implications for people with hearing loss. According to the report, “Research findings provide firm evidence that hearing aids do, in fact, provide significant benefit to older adults.”

The study concluded that satisfaction was much higher for patients who purchased and used hearing aids under audiologist care rather than patients who bought over-the-counter hearing aids without professional guidance or care.  Involving a hearing-care professional in the process is essential.  If you have been debating if you should have your hearing checked, this may just be the push you need to contact a hearing-care professional today and schedule an evaluation. Working with a professional will increase your satisfaction with the outcome and ultimately improve your quality of life!
