We all love hearing stories, but sometimes those stories can give us the wrong idea or be outright misleading. Fortunately, ‘Healthyhearing.com’ has put together a list of five misperceptions about hearing aids. The not so true facts they talk about include:
- Hearing aids are ugly and bulky.
Response: Technology has gotten so good these days that in many cases hearing aids are very small.
- I only need one hearing aid.
Response: If you read Jeff’s article this week you would know just how important it is to be able to hear out of both ears. Don’t short change yourself!
- Hearing aids are for old people.
Response: Hearing care is vital to our wellbeing no matter our age.
- Buying hearing aids online is a good idea.
Response: When it comes to hearing aids it is vital that they are configured to you. Cutting corners with your hearing to find a cheap option online is not for the best in the long run.
- Hearing aids didn’t work for my friend, so they won’t work for me.
Response: Don’t let someone else’s experience keep you from making a positive change in your life. Your local hearing care professional is prepared to help you with your specific hearing loss. All you need to do is take the step.
With all of the resources available to us nowadays, we can double check any misconceptions we may have heard. Taking action is the most important step when it comes to dealing with hearing loss. Don’t wait!
