Do your plans this 4th of July involve fireworks? For most of us, the answer is yes. Fireworks are a fun and exciting way to celebrate our independence, but let’s not forget, some fireworks can get very high up on the decibel scale. Here are some steps you can take to make sure you are staying hearing health conscious this Tuesday:
- Don’t sit too close – A good way to cushion noisy fireworks is to make sure you aren’t sitting too close to the action.
- Take a break – If you feel like the noise may be too much, take a moment and separate yourself from the event. If possible you could get inside your car or home and watch from there.
- Use ear plugs – Enjoy the spectacle while keeping your hearing safe. Ear plugs allow you to enjoy the whole party safely.
It’s time to celebrate our independence, but don’t let the festivities get the best of your hearing. Taking steps to be safe will help you hear your best for many 4th of July’s to come.
