Communicate Successfully With The Hearing Impaired

The University of California San Francisco Medical Center prepared a great list of tips to ensure good communication strategies when communicating with people who have hearing loss.  Some of their recommendations include:


  • Use their name before beginning a conversation
  • Face them directly
  • Acquaint the listener with the general topic of the conversation
  • Pay attention to where to position yourself
  • Speak clearly and slowly, but naturally
  • Try to minimize extra noise while talking
