Do you have your retirement all planned out? Are you going to spend all day in the sun golfing? Visiting family? Catching up on your favorite TV shows? With planning for retirement there are a lot of things to prepare for. Whatever plans you make, don’t forget your hearing health. Failing to proactively treat hearing loss will affect your wallet and your enjoyment during retirement.

While many people do what they can to be frugal after retiring, not getting your hearing checked or procrastinating treatment to save a few bucks can actually cost you in the long run. According to the Better Hearing institute untreated hearing loss can cost up to $30,000 annually. That money could be used to travel or take care of other wants and needs.

Also, were you planning to spend all your new found free time with family and friends? Did you know that untreated hearing loss can result in isolating yourself from others, and is a leading contributor to depression in seniors?

Need another reason? Hearing loss is also associated with more visits to the hospital. If you want to keep that spring in your step well into retirement then take care of your hearing. Your overall health will benefit and your loved ones will appreciate it.
