Is it getting too loud in here? Now you will be able to tell! Apple has released a new app for the Apple Watch that will use the watch’s built in microphone to measure the noise in the area around you. If the decibel level gets too high and could cause hearing damage, you can configure the watch to alert you.
Noise-induced hearing loss is very common but preventable. Understanding when the sounds around you hit a level that can be harmful can be extremely helpful in damage prevention. If you are interested in seeing what kind of sounds can be dangerous you can find a great diagram here.
The app is included in the new Apple Watch software and available on Apple Watch Series 4 and later.
