Yay! You got hearing aids! Now you are living free and can hear absolutely everything. As much as we wish this to be true there are some important things you should know about making the best of your hearing aid experience.

  • Your hearing aids are expensive and the last thing you want is for them to not be working their best. You should regularly clean and check your hearing aids to make sure they last longer and function properly.
  • Keep visiting a hearing care professional. There is only so much you can do to make sure your hearing aid is working at its best. The people with the skills necessary to maximize your hearing aid experience are hearing care professionals. Make regular visits to a hearing care professional after buying hearing aids so that they can optimize your hearing aid experience.
  • Get a CaptionCall phone! There is only so much a hearing aid can do when it comes to talking on the phone. A CaptionCall phone will make sure your hearing loss doesn’t get in the way of keeping in touch with friends and family.
  • Wear your hearing aids! This might seem weird to have to say but it’s true. Many times after people buy their hearing aids they will get frustrated during the adjustment period and start taking them out. It’s important to keep going! It can sometimes feel overwhelming as you adjust to your hearing aids but be patient. You will find the effort to be more than worth it.

The key to treating your hearing loss is being proactive. Just having the hearing aid often isn’t enough. Follow these steps and you will make sure your hearing loss journey is a successful one.

CaptionCall is an ambassador for hearing health and an advocate for people with hearing loss. We encourage everyone to actively manage their hearing health through regular hearing evaluations and to seek early treatment when hearing loss is identified.  We are obsessed with helping those with hearing loss stay socially engaged for a longer, happier, healthier life.  To learn more about CaptionCall and how you can qualify for a no-cost CaptionCall phone, visit www.captioncall.com

  1. Most of the time I do wear my hearing aids but when I’m home 🏡 alone I don’t see any sense I truly love ❤️ the peace and quiet 🤫 I have by myself at home and if people do come over for a visit I’ll put them on. I would like to thank you so much 😊 CaptionCall for the phone you have given me and this really helps me understand conversations so much more now.

  2. I have been able to answer the phone and understand what people are saying, most of the time. Thank you so much.

  3. After purchasing expensive hearing aids from 4 different companies, and making many many trips for adjustments, I have given up. They can put a man on the moon but can’t develop a decent, affordable hearing aid.
I do appreciate caption call and your interest in those who suffer with hearing loss.

  4. I just want to thank you for your comments I do have hearing aids and I do use my captioncall phone as much as possible

  5. I just want to thank you for the information that you have just provided I do have hearing aids and I do use my caption phone as much as possible

  6. I have enjoyed having the Caption Call. When some people talk they talk so fast that even the Caption Call cannot understand what they are saying. Now I know it isn’t just my hearing the is at fault. Thanks so very much for being part of my life.

  7. I want to thank all the CaptionCall people for making it possible for me to continue to communicate with my friends and family and others. They do a wonderful job of quickly relaying the message even when it must be very difficult. I have recommended CaptionCall to many friends and know that several are also using this service. I thank you so much for making it possible for me to stay socially connected.

  8. I appreciate the information you share with us . Thank you so much . I would be lost without my caption call phone. I encourage everyone who is hard of hearing to get one . I would really like an app for my iPhone, many times I have to ask whoever is calling me ,to text instead. Thank you for the wonderful services you offer.

  9. I have really enjoyed the captioncall phone. It has solved my frustration on using the phone. you’ll do an excel job helping people with hearing problems.

I don’t understand, we can send a man to the moon but can’t make a pair of hearing aids that will help solve their hearing problems.. Such as hearing problems in restaurants (too much background noise),TV channel, reception of TV find but if you have this channel on you can’t hear the conversation going in the room at the same time. Conversations are not clear, echo, muffled, etc. I can list more.

I have a question, on the hearing test you have information for both ears. The amplification setting allows only for one setting. What is the source of information for this setting? Keep up the good work you are doing.

  10. I am SO THANKFUL for my Caption Call telephone and the availability of having conversations that I can see and understand . Before Caption Call I felt left out of so many talks and laughs! My husband and I recommended this wonderful telephone to others when we heard of their hearing problems. THANK YOU and may GOD bless you!!!

  11. Keep in mind that the best “hearing care professional” is a licensed doctor of audiology, not someone who is merely trained to sell their product.

  12. CaptionCall has been a lifesaver. Before we started using CC (about 2 years ago) we virtually stopped using our old landline phone as it became a nightmare to deal with. We are indebted to CaptionCall

  13. Caption Call has made it so much easier for my husband to hear on the telephone and now he c.an talk to our daughter when she calls

  14. You have to remind people to talk slower and distinctly whether on the phone or in person. Conversation is not a race.
There are times my Caption phone doesn’t understand what is being said, although sometimes what comes out is quite funny.

    1. I agree! My caption many times advises “speaker unclear” and it is 100o% correct!
Is not the fault of the phone but the speaker is the problem…..I absolutely love my captel; has made
      life easier……

  15. Caption call Is helping me very much to follow a conversation, since I can see what is being said,by the person on the other end. It is a modern device that performs real good.
My thanks to all of the people involved with Caption call.
Keep up the good work, you are all great.

  16. I live in a senior development, where about half of the people are hard of hearing with half of them that do not wear aids because of them being uncomfortable, price, etc. The caption call is the answer. I have mine for a long time.

  17. Thank you people who made it possible for me to get caption call phone. My hearing is so bad that I had given up trying to talk on the phone to xnyone. I would like to know if there is a way to tone down the voice of callers I don’t know if I have mine set right because it has a very high pinched sound from the caller. If anyone out there can tell me ho to soften the voice I would sure appreciate it
Thanks again for a wonderful service to all us with hearing loss

  18. While hearing aids add to the quality of life, I am seeing a NUCCA DC whose work is helping me regain more hearing. He adjusts my atlas & a joy to hear sounds not heard for so long! Wearing hearing aids helps me be grounded, present, aware of sounds & aid high speech skills. If I do not wear hearing aids, my speech becomes slurred.

I appreciate why it is important to see the hearing clinic to get my hearing aids checked & cleaned, I do not want to buy more hearing aids until my neck is totally healed for optimum hearing, vision & brain.

I greatly appreciate Caption Call mobile app. It is a joy to be more self reliant book appointments, etc. w/o asking my mother to call for me.

  19. Thank you for explaining that there is only so much that you can do as a patient to be sure that your hearing aids are working correctly. My sister has been noting that your dad has been losing a lot of his hearing, but he doesn’t have any hearing aids yet. I will be sure to save this article for after he gets them so that he can maintain them in the best way possible. https://audiologyservicespa.com/hearing-aid-dispensing-and-fitting

  20. I like that you mentioned to keep on seeing a hearing loss professional even after getting your hearing aids to make sure you can optimize your hearing aid experience. I’ve been trying to convince my father to keep on going to the hearing loss clinic after he got his hearing aids, lately, he’s been saying that they don’t work as well. After I show him this article maybe he’ll understand how important it is to keep up on his hearing health.
