Ann Bardsley

Director, Corporate Communications and Public Relations

Q: Please describe your role in the company and why it is important.

A:  As the company evangelist, I oversee the company’s internal and external communication – messages that build relationships of trust and engagement between our communities and our brands. Our goal is to deliver targeted information to our audiences through ethical communication, and to communicate clearly so information is easily and readily understood. By doing so, we build credibility, which enhances our image and reputation.

Q: What do you bring to your role that adds value to the company?

A: As a former journalist and writer for 30-plus years, I am passionate about storytelling and I understand what news make headlines. In addition to overseeing the PR team and other responsibilities, my days include a lot of writing, editing, and working with media. I enjoy telling our story about how we develop and provide trusted services and technologies that deliver exceptional communication experiences for our customers.

Q: What does the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) provide for people who are Deaf and hard-of-hearing?

A: This landmark piece of legislation provides equal access to communication and communication inclusion. Communication is powerful. To converse, understand, and be understood provides opportunities for education, employment, transportation, medical care, and the opportunity to determine the course of one’s life.

Q: Please describe how regulations (the government rules) impact what we do as a company.

A: All employees are trained to understand and abide by specific company policies and rules prescribed by the FCC.  Our robust compliance program includes ongoing training and education to ensure everyone understands what is needed to always be operating within the rules. Through consistent reminders and compliance training, our compliance practices exceed industry best practices.

Q: What is the greatest challenge you have overcome – or are still overcoming – in your work?

A: Racing time to accomplish everything on my “To do” list is a constant challenge, even though I’m a very fast typist! Each day, I work to prioritize projects, then keep at them until they are completed. To be honest, some days are better than others.

Q: What is the best part of your work?

A: Promoting the great services we offer while continuing to hone my craft is a great work combination for me. I am lucky to work with a talented PR team, and I like belonging to a company that values inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility. I love what I do and am grateful for the opportunity to get to do it with all-star teams across the company.
